War veterans in London
Based in Fulham, London, The Sir Oswald Stoll Foundation provides supported housing to hundreds of vulnerable and disabled Veterans, many of whom are homeless. The reportage focuses on some of the veterans living there as well as the team of the Beef Kitchen a project which has won the the New Statesman awards for social enterprise. The Beef Kitchen has run since 2005 as a mobile catering business managed and staffed by former homeless ex-Servicemen who are residents of the Sir Oswald Stoll Foundation. Their goal was to establish a business that could help to support the Foundation’s aims, which include assisting homeless and disabled ex-Service personnel to live independently, by providing employment experience. Recent research from the University of York has shown that on any given night there are 1,100 homeless ex-Service personnel in London alone.
